May 25th 2008

Stan Krasovic’s 3:20 at the Bayshore Marathon – gives him a Boston Qualifier!!  Heard he already has his hotel reservations.

Kelly Stimson competed in the Triple T over the memorial day weekend in Ohio.  This thing is grueling – basically it gives you the distance of full ironman over 4 races.  It is considered the hardest triathlon series in North America.  The series starts on Friday with a 250m swim, 5 mile Bike, 1 mile run.  Saturday is an Olympic in the morning at 730am and then another Olympic in the afternoon at 3pm (with a change in order bike first, then swim, finally run).  The series wraps up on Sunday with a Half Ironman at 7am.  Ouch!!  Kelly finished 12th in age group – well done!!

April 19th & 20th 2008

Congratulations to Rod Swanson (31:06, 6:55pace) and Ken Herrington (33:28, 7:26pace) who both raced the Macomb Orchard Trail 4.5miler on Saturday.  No official results are posted yet, but I believe Rod was 1st in age group 13th overall – well done!

Congratulations again to Ed Sosnowski, Jay Adams, and Sue Lyons for coming out and testing their fitness on Saturday for a Mock Duathlon.  Everyone was glad to have gotten a good workout in and are feeling confident going into the Willow Du in 2 weeks.  I also heard that Laura Fergle, who couldn’t make it Sat, got the bug and went out and did her own version on Sunday.

 3/16/2008 - Corktown Race

This past Sunday was the annual Corktown race before the St. Patties day parade.  Scanning through the results, it looks like it was a huge race this year.  Here are some of the club members I saw

Sue Lint-Pirtle – 20th age group
Nicole Piersante – 27th age group
Bryan Sieber – 16th age group
Kelly Stimson – 52nd age group
Kevin Thomas – 21 age group

Also, I missed Kevin Merritt’s results from a few weeks ago – he did a fundraiser bikini run downtown.  1 miler, in just his tri-shorts, 3rd place overall, a 6:15 mile.

2/24/2008 - Climb Detroit

Sunday, 40 or 70 flights of stairs at the RenCen.  3 members made the trek downtown.

the following also competed as a team:

Andy Fuchs – 8 of 18
Tim Ericson – 16 of 65
Tracy Ryckaert – 27 of 93
Congratulations to all of you!!

1/12/08 - 1/13/08

    * First off, and official, Brian Frost raced in the Disney Marathon on Sunday and finished in 4:26:03.  Congratulations on getting another marathon under your belt.

     * 2nd and unofficially, Don Zimmer notched another marathon over the weekend as well.  Don was planning to race the Rock and Roll Marathon in Arizona, but his trip fell apart and thus stayed local.  So, he decided to put the miles in anyway at Stoney Creek and ran his 3rd fastest marathon to date.  3:19:26, or a 7:36 pace.  Not bad for being out there unsupported.
