Ironman Mont Tremblant Half 70.3 Mont Tremblant, QC Canada One loop, inland lake, rolling start. Bit of a walk to the start. Long run up to transition. One loop: Long downhills and some grinding uphills for the first 40-45 miles, some steeper climbs in the last 12 miles. One loop: first 5k is rolling hills, middle 7 miles on a pancake flat rail to trail, last 5k rolling hills. Very cool ski village, Chair lift through the center of town, spectators see athletes multiple times on the bike course from town. Finish is through the center of town on cobblestone roads.

First and last mile of each loop only exciting part. Host hotel seems outdated, Transition is inside the hotel, Finish line is boring.

Mostly rolling hills Two Loop: first half of each loop is on a flat riverwalk and shoulder of a freeway, second half has some hills but not as much as the full. Free busses throughout the city. Athletes take a bus to swim start. Busses to a spectator viewing area on the bike course, lots of opportunity to spectate on the run. Finish on the river.
Ironman Chattanooga Full 140.6 Chattanooga, TN Downstream swim, rolling start, probably not wetsuit legal Two loop lolipop course. You don't come back into town before the second loop. Mostly rolling hills. Two Loop: first half of each loop is on a flat riverwalk and shoulder of a freeway, second half has some large hills. Free busses throughout the city. Athletes take a bus to swim start. Busses to a spectator viewing area on the bike course, lots of opportunity to spectate on the run. Finish on the river.
Ironman Steelhead 70.3 Benton Harbor, MI Cold water, swim gets cancelled frequently due to waves One loop mostly rolling hills. First couple miles are uphill grind, last couple are a downhill coast to transition. Hot run with not a ton of shade. Two loop lolipop course through Whirlpool campus. A couple of tough hills on each lap. Nice park with not a lot of parking. Have to park and walk from Whirlpool campus down the road.
Ironman Traverse City 70.3 Traverse City, MI Crystal clear water of Grand Traverse Bay. Should be wetsuit legal. First 3 miles are uphill. Then some rolling hills. Mile 30 there's another long grinding uphill. If you're still alive by mile 53 it's all downhill. - Bike Route being updated for 2020 Two lap run which takes you onto a crushed gravel trail for portions. Not a ton of elevation gain. Lots of spectating opportunity on the run. Have your family get to the park near the Traverse City Library and they'll see you 4x
Grand Rapids Tri 70.3 Ada, MI One loop swim in a dam controlled lake (think Stony Creek) Out and back course. Fairly flat first 14 miles, rolling the next 14, reverse for the way back. No spectating opportunity on course.
Michigan Titanium Half 70.3 Plainfield Twp, MI Crystal clear inland lake. They brag that the lake meets drinking water standards.
